Award-winning beginnings

Bruce GrahamInternational Plaza was designed by renowned architect Bruce Graham. His most notable designs include the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) and Inland Steel Building, both in Chicago.

International Plaza was one of Graham's first ventures into "International Style" architecture, a technique he became famous for. The building started out as the headquarters for the Warren Petroleum Corporation and was referred to as the "Gulf Warren."


In 2004, the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture gave the building its Landmark award. The award identifies and honors a physical artifact, building, structure, or place that is significant to Tulsa's heritage.

Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the architecture firm Graham was working for at the time he designed International Plaza, continues to be one of the most influential names in architecture. Of of their most current works is New Yorks One World Trade Center.
